21st June 2013 - Remained in Liverpool

Walked into town and visited both Cathedrals. Our favourite was the Catholic Cathedral aka 'Paddies Wigwam'.  It is modern, bright and well designed.  The Anglican (despite being completed more recently) is simply too big and monolithic, trying to out-size the medievals, who were far better at it.

Modern glass, but cool

Overly large we thought

Street art near the Philharmonic. Each piece of luggage bears the name of someone connected to Liverpool.  The guitar cases are the Beatles....

In the afternoon I tried to find Kitchen Street as a relative lived there in the 1840s  as a Ships Stores Proprietor at No67.  I wasn't holding out much hope as the area was heavily bombed and mostly now bulldozed.  But there was still No67... Ships Stores.  Sent a chill up my spine.  Note: I have since gone back another 2 generations and they were in Kitchen Street in 1798.
