1st July 2013 - Liverpool Salthouse Dock to Haskayne

Up crack of sparrows to be ready to meet the CRT chaps at Mann Island lock.  Snag was there were 8 boats moving off at the same time and there is nowhere to moor in Canning Dock on the approach to Mann Island.  It was windy and waiting boats were being blown all over the place.  So Meander and Ceilidh went last, both finding places to hang onto in the Canning half tide dock until everyone else had gone through.

The trip out of the docks was uneventful but just as spectacular as our arrival.  The rain had started and the wind had got up to speed us on our way.  We locked through all the locks with Meander - we were the only two boats with VHF radios but spent most of the time in hailing distance!  At the top of the Stanley flight we set off in formation, with Meander leading the way as ever.  A nasty vibration necessitated a stop at Litherland to clear the weed hatch and we lost Meander for a while, catching them at bridge 6, the first CRT operated bridge..... which was broken and took the chaps 1/2 hour to sort.  Meander had planned on stopping at bridge 10, but continued on with us for quite a way before stopping just south of Haskayne at Down Holland.

A lovely spot, now luxuriating in a lovely afternoon, if a little windy.  Out came the chairs on the towpath, out came the tables, out came the .... wine.
Much used bollard

Its not the leaving of Liverpool that greaves me so......
