30th April 2013 - Remained in Middlewich

Stayed at our mooring in Middlewich for the day.
Looking after the new member of the crew was to be the order of the day today.  We went to explore Middlewich with the intention of finding a pet shop and food for Duck.  Uncle Google had told us that there is such a product as new duckling food!  Our first port of call was  a shop with the encouraging name of ‘House of Feathers’. This turned out to be a shed in someones garden.  Nevertheless the chap was really helpful and gave us some good advice on how to keep Duck from croaking it.  We then explored the town a bit and bought some essential supplies.  Middlewich is quite a pleasant place.
After lunch I wandered down to the Kings Lock Chandlery for some water-proof grease for the stern tube and spent the rest of the afternoon changing the diesel filter – the one I should have really done before we left!
Annie in the meantime had made a nest/sleeping bag to keep Duck warm.  How she can think of / design / knit and assemble things in no time flat is beyond me.  Anyway Duck loved it – for the 10 seconds it took him to wriggle out again.  He did learn to use it later on though.
